Embrace: wellness that flows with you
Impact
The app reduced the effort required to track expenses by streamlining categorization and surfacing insights visually.

Client & Product
Embrace is a mobile app I designed and developed to help women track their menstrual cycles and receive personalized recommendations for workouts, meals, and lifestyle adjustments. The app adapts content dynamically based on each phase of the cycle, creating a supportive and accessible experience that balances health tracking with actionable insights.
Background
I recognized a gap in cycle-tracking apps that often stop at data logging without offering meaningful, personalized guidance. Embrace was created to go beyond tracking—helping women understand their cycles, while also giving them practical tools like nutrition plans, phase-based workouts, and saving functionality for favorites. The challenge was to design an experience that felt approachable and supportive, while also being data-driven and medically reliable.

Business Requirements & Constraints
The project aimed to create an adaptive, scalable, and user-centered app. The primary goals included building phase-specific recommendations that combined nutrition and workouts, designing a visually approachable and trustworthy UI, and incorporating AI-driven personalization for future scalability. Constraints included balancing medical accuracy with user-friendliness, ensuring inclusivity across varied demographics, and maintaining consistency in design while handling data complexity.
EMBRACE'S OBJECTIVES FOR THE PRODUCT
. Deliver phase-based guidance through meals, workouts, and educational content that feels both actionable and personalized.
. Design a scalable system that can expand to include advanced features like mood tracking, AI-driven insights, and integrations with wearables.
. Ensure a supportive, approachable user experience through consistent visuals, clear navigation, and sensitive handling of health-related data.
Challenges
The primary challenge in designing Embrace was building trust around health recommendations powered by cycle data while ensuring accuracy and inclusivity. Since menstrual tracking involves deeply personal information, the design needed to strike a balance between personalization and privacy. Another challenge was creating an experience that worked seamlessly for both first-time users learning about cycle phases and advanced users seeking detailed insights. This required simplifying complex health data into approachable visuals, while still offering depth for those who wanted it.

Market UX/UI Research
To validate the idea, I analyzed leading apps in both health and fitness categories, including Flo, Clue, and MyFitnessPal. I compared feature sets, engagement techniques, and visual styles to understand gaps in the market. Findings showed that while cycle trackers focus on logging, they rarely provide practical action steps, while fitness apps rarely address hormonal changes. This confirmed an opportunity for Embrace to merge both worlds.

Wireframing
I began by mapping out the app’s structure, aligning user needs with features: cycle tracking, workouts, nutrition, saved content, and personalization. Low-fidelity wireframes helped refine navigation, ensuring users could fluidly move from tracking to recommendations. These were then translated into high-fidelity wireframes for the entire app, focusing on clarity, visual hierarchy, and emotional support through design choices.

Testing Hypothesis
Usability tests with target users validated two hypotheses. First, that contextual AI-like guidance lowers intimidation by simulating a supportive coach—users felt more confident engaging with workouts and meals when the app “guided” them. Second, that visual feedback (progress tracking, streaks, and goals) increases motivation, improving consistency. Feedback confirmed both hypotheses, with testers reporting higher engagement and a stronger sense of accountability.
Selected UX/UI Improvements
Here are some design approaches that served as the foundation for the whole system redesign:
1. PHASE SPECIFIC RECCOMENDATIONS
Users receive curated workouts and meals aligned with each cycle phase, supported by visuals that make content approachable and easy to explore.

2. SAVE LIBRARY
A dedicated saved section allows users to bookmark their favorite meals and workouts, creating a personal library of go-to resources.

3. CYCLE TRACKING WITH EMOTIONAL SENSITIVITY
The tracker supports detailed logging (period flow, symptoms, feelings, pain) while maintaining a calm and friendly UI, reducing stigma around sensitive data entry.

Impact
Embrace demonstrates how thoughtful design can merge health tracking with actionable lifestyle support. Beyond logging cycles, it empowers women with real, daily tools to improve well-being. The project showcases my ability to conduct market research, translate insights into high-fidelity design, and build a cohesive system that balances usability, scalability, and emotional design.
Summary
Embrace redefines women’s health apps by combining science-backed menstrual insights with approachable, user-centered design. Through cycle-specific nutrition and workout recommendations, tracking tools, and personalized guidance, the app empowers users to make informed lifestyle choices that align with their body’s natural rhythm. The result is a supportive, inclusive, and scalable solution that bridges wellness, education, and usability—designed to help women feel more in tune with their health every day.
